Generation of Leaders!

Like father like son... so the saying goes..

For years, the Honorable Mayor Boy Daku Plaza has shown the people of Butuan and the entire country the epitome of a leader. With his various achievements and in his undying pursuit to excellence he never wavered in giving a hundred percent to serve his constituents. He never betrayed the trust and confidence given to him by the people, in fact he actually showed his political rivals the importance of leadership beyond the arena of politics.. the man who truly cares for Butuan.. And on the rise, the butuanon will never be mislead as the legacy of service our mayor has shown can clearly be seen on our beloved city councilor Randolph "Doy" Plaza. Like his father, he has done many great things not only for younger generation to enjoy but also to the elderly which eventually catapulted his status as one of the most influential young leaders of our country today.

This eligible bachelor is soft spoken and seldom would engage to publicity. In fact he can be best described as someone who would choose "dili ang akong sulti akong palihokon; ang akong lihok ang akong pasultihon.." The man of action who also epitomizes care by initiating the "Luwas Pag-atud Program." A program that gave the elderly a chance for clear eyesight and have those defects operated for free. Countless elderly benefited from the said program. His relentless efforts to intensify the sports program give the youth a productive outlet away from the pressures of vices and unproductive activities. More importantly, inculcating discipline and teamwork to build a better city and a better nation eventually. HE certainl;y has outshine old politicians and even proved his doubters wrong.

He is certainly not a "traditional politician" but a "TRADITIONAL SERVANT" as he is geared on serving the people than engage in politicking as what his detractors are accustomed to doing.

A butuanon who cares for butuan will choose no less than the able leaders who continue the basic values every butuanon has, Love of God, Love of Family and a leadership bound to public service... A Leader, a servant and most importantly a Friend..A salute to Hon. Randolph "doy" Plaza's greatness!

(this is just the beginning of the bright future he surely can give)

Reliving the Past, Today!

“Yesterday was Manila; today is Cebu; tomorrow will be BUTUAN!!!”

Known as the Ancient Kingdom, this historic city is now on the verge of reclaiming its throne it once had as proven in the historical accounts by voyagers around the world. The famous line “in the beginning, there was no Philippines but there was Butuan” only shows the richness of this city even before the Spanish era. But so much in lingering on the glorious past, it is high time for us to relive that grandeur by assessing what our beloved city has undergone and what should be done to help our “Balanghai” reach its journey… a journey towards progress… For it is in recalling our past that we can seize our destiny…

One determining factor to achieve progress in a society is anchored on the leaders who now are task to mold our locality’s future. One of the primary delimma of our country is the chaotic political scenario which only did not bring solutions but more problems instead. Butuan is blessed to have some at the helm a true leader who truly cares for Butuan.. A visionary who, slowly but surely, brought progress and development to the city despite the threat of economic recession and the nuisance political bickering of some. We are blessed to have Mayor Democrito “boy daku” Plaza, the father of Butuan, who trough the years, keeps us at bay, stronger as a city and is beginning to rise as the new economic hub of the southern Philippines.

Unlike other cities, it is only in Butuan where one can attest the very much alive governmental programs, surpassing the expectations of detractors. The farm to market roads established gave a metaphorical significance as it breaks opens the people to the road of progress. These linkages are very vital not only for the people form far flung barangays to reach the city but for the city government to reach its people and let them enjoy the right to access governemental service.

I still wonder why there are a lot of individuals who are trying to discredit what the mayor has done. In fact, he is the only mayor who puts every Tuesday as “people’s day” where every constituent is given an opportunity to talk to him in person. I still remember the long line of people at the city hall every Tuesday then. Though it is very tiring, he never gave up, sadly, because of his undying will to serve the people his health was compromised. Thanks to God that he is able to hurdle such test in life. Isn’t it the same sacrifice we have seen in our national heroes? How many more people who would rather pursue their political agenda which only show their selfish ways? In no way will I trade a single day of another person as a mayor for mayor “Boy Daku” has never traded the future of his people… that includes my future… to the politically corrupt individuals who occupy themselves with lies and deceit.

The key to bringing back our glorious past is now clear. Mayor Plaza already laid the foundations and let us not allow anybody to disrupt our smooth journey to progress. Not even the so-called leaders from our neighboring municipalities who are still defiant in accepting the Suprme Court’s ruling that they failed to be a “City”. Just a footnote, if they do not know how to listen to the supreme court and respect its rulings, how could we expect them to listen to the people and respect our rights? Not in Butuan City. Not in our City!

With our foundations now established, it is only but rightful to do our share as Butuanons and ignore the false allegations of the noisy minority. They simply envy our progress and sorry for them for they do not j\have a leader like our mayor who never let us down through the years.

Like the legendary “Balanghai’’ boat, Mayor Plaza, with his seven point agenda, has been our vessel to journey on beyond our current achievements and bring Butuan back to its glorious throne…

This simple reflection from a lowly Butuanon who has given faith to the legacy of service shown by our local executive is not tainted by any malice but shielded by the love for Butuan as what our city’s father has given amidst adversity…

After all, all great kingdoms are built by a Majestic King, a Loving father and a caring friend… all traits rolled as one. This simply exemplifies what we already have now, Mayor Boy Daku Plaza, the Father of Butuan.

Set aside pretenders, you can do nothing to stop us from progress.. It is in recalling our past that we can seize our destiny. Full steam ahead as we have the rightful leader to continue this smooth journey.

LAWIG BALANGHAI!
